| With two photocopy pages of service documents. Richard Willey Jane enlisted at Devonport as a boy 1 November 1888. Born Grade, Helston 15 September 1873. Occupation inshore fisherman. Served in H.M.S. Magpie 9 May 1893 to 11 May 1896 covering his qualification for the East & West Africa Medal, H.M.S. Philomel 1 December 1898 to 14 January 1902 covering his qualification for the QSA and H.M.S. Prince Edward 6 February 1915 to 31 August 1917 during which time he qualified for the LS&GC. (Medal traced 5 June 1917). Re-engaged 15 September 1903. Demobilised to shore and pension 27 January 1919. 41 East & West Africa Medals with clasp Gambia 1894 awarded to H.M.S. Magpie. 230 QSAs awarded to H.M.S. Philomel of which 24 were four clasp, 23 of this combination. QSA presented by King Edward VII. QSA roll shows a duplicate medal was issued at some point. |
