Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasp Elandslaagte 6410 Pte. W. Allen Gord Highrs.
William Allen Enlisted on 2/19/1898 at Aldershot. He was 21 at the time and gave his occupation as a baker.
He served in South Africa only 3 months having been severely wounded at Elandslaagte. He returned to England on 12/24/1899 . He was formally discharged as being unfit on Aug. 21, 1900.
Only 52 QSAs with the single clasp "Elandslaagte" were awarded to the Regt.
During the Great War, Pte Allen served with the 2nd Batn Royal Berks and was discharged from the Royal Defence Corps in January 1919.
