Thomas Strong was born in Kilmarnock in 1877 and gave his occupation as a gardener. He was 5’ 8 3/4" weighed 127 lb. and
had a sallow complexion. He was attested at Ayr on Jan 13th 1900 and went to SA in Feb 1900. Where he served until June
1901. His next of kin was listed as Albert Strong (father)

1881 census has him living in Ayr with his parents and his younger brother Albert as well as some inlaws(CUNNINGHAM) His
father was from Ireland His mother Elizabeth was from Kilmarnock. Albert's occupation in 1881 was a gardener.

The Vol Coy joined  2nd Battn at Modder Spruit, near Ladysmith March 6,1900.
